Besides doing some researches both in the lab and field, my job also making a certain kind of review to reports the result. I also need to write the outputs in several publications as working paper, but that’s to support my own career 
So, maybe you can call me an everlasting “student”, hahaha…
Like another, my working paper are consist of abstract, introduction, material n method, data analysis, results and discussion, and references. And for data analysis, we commonly use statistical package, for example SPSS, SAS, Minitab, IRRISTAT, MSTAT and much more. It’s depend on the type of data and our purposes, but I’m usually use Minitab and MSTAT. Simple and easy to use.
I learnt Minitab ver 13 for the first time worked, and then I got ver.14 (now, has been released ver.15). It has many statistical procedures, from the simple to the advanced (descriptive statistic to statistic multivariate), and supported by graphical presentation data. I think, ver.14 emphasizes to develop the statistical process control. Because I haven’t already download the ver.15, so I can’t say anything, hehehe…
I ever tried MSTAT but sometimes I have difficult to operate because of the non “point and klik” method (I’m not familiar with C programming language, hehehe..). But MSTAT also a powerful tool used to simplify and enhance field and laboratory research. It could be used to generate the design of experiments (RCB, CRD, Lattice) and analyze the data. It also contains program for multivariate analysis.
My story above is sharing only because I’ve a very little experience about statistical software. I haven’t explore further, because I’m still limited to analyze simple data and use simple function. So, please understand
